# Reserve or pre-order

> Put a deposit on a vehicle that is not available to buy yet.

When a vehicle is not yet available, you can put money down to hold one.

## Why do it

* The vehicle is not in stock yet
* It is a new model not yet released
* Demand is high and you want to be in the queue

## Your deposit is refundable

## How it works

    By email, with your reservation details.
  </Step>

    Typically 20 to 30 days, though it depends on the vehicle.

  <Step title="You get invited to complete">
    When the vehicle is ready, you receive an email with a link to finish, plus a text reminder.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete your purchase">
    You review the final price with **your deposit already deducted**, choose how to pay, and finish checkout.

## Your deposit comes off the price

It is applied automatically to your final total. You are not paying twice.

## If you change your mind

Contact your dealer and ask to cancel. Your deposit is refunded.

## If you do not respond to the invitation

Nothing bad happens immediately. Your reservation is marked inactive and can be reactivated whenever you are ready, with your deposit still held.

  Do keep an eye out for the invitation email and text. The vehicle being ready is time-sensitive, and if you go quiet for a long time the dealer may cancel and refund you so someone else can take it.

## Reserving through chat

If the site has a chat assistant, you can place a reservation directly in the conversation. Same deposit, same refund terms.
