# Usage
> What you have consumed, and the transactions behind it.
**Usage** in the left navigation. Where plan details tell you what you are entitled to, usage tells you what you have actually used.
## The header
A summary of your consumption for the current period, so you can see at a glance whether you are tracking normally.
## Transaction history
A table of individual transactions making up that usage, so a total you did not expect can be traced to the specific activity behind it.
## Filtering
Filter the table to narrow to a period or type of activity. Useful for checking a specific month rather than reading the whole history.
## Why watch it
Some products are usage-based and can incur overages beyond the included allowance. Checking periodically means you find out from the portal rather than from an invoice.
If usage jumps unexpectedly, look at the transaction history before contacting support. It usually explains itself, and you will have the detail ready if it does not.
